Rodin's rough aesthetic is very appealing to me because I see the process. I can imagine the material being worked into the late hours of night, only to be revisited early in the morning along with a cup of coffee. Marble is rough, and so are parts of Rodin's pieces. When that rawness is juxtaposed against the smooth burnished sections, I become interested. Strong lines with rough texture is what I notices while studying Rodin's treatment of contours.
